Clackamas Service Center is a safety net for thousands of neighbors — offering food, showers, mail services, clothing, and care to families, seniors and individuals facing food insecurity or houselessness.
But the truth is: we’re facing a mounting crisis.
Since spring 2025, demand for grocery support at Clackamas Service Center has risen by 49%. That's before the SNAP cuts from H.B. 1 that started to come into play in October.
Inflation, cuts to SNAP and other federal supports, and a steep rise in the cost of basic needs have pushed more people than ever through our doors — and at the same time, these impacts have meant that funding has also been more chaotic.
Despite the financial and logistical challenges, we were able to distribute more food than ever before in 2025, rising to meet the need in every way we could. Community support from the Save the Food Hub campaign has been vital to keep these programs running smoothly in the past few months. Without the success of the campaign so far, we'd already have been forced to close our warehouse, CSC’s Food Hub, where we store, sort, and distribute over 1.6 million pounds of donated food each year.
We are closer than ever to reaching our campaign goal, which ensures the stability of our food programs in 2026. Your help is needed now to ensure we can continue providing groceries to over 12,000 people a month.
Your donations support the annual cost for the lease, staffing, and utilities of the Food Hub, which total approximately $575,000 annually.
If the Food Hub closed, we’d lose almost all of our food storage space and be forced to cut our food distributions back by over 70%. With more cuts to federal benefits like SNAP unfolding now and more scheduled through 2027, this isn’t just a crisis for CSC — it’s a disaster for the whole community, erasing a crucial local safety net for people facing hunger.
We believe everyone deserves access to healthy food, and in this day and age, no one should go hungry. Every gift, of any size, keeps food on the table for local families and ensures the Food Hub will remain a resource people can rely on. Your donations are vitally important to building a community free from hunger, by keeping CSC’s vital food programs running now and into the future.
Your donation could be matched by the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund, if you are a new donor, a returning lapsed donor, or if you are increasing your gift over previous recent giving. Gifts of $500, $1,000, or $2,500 from individuals, businesses or foundations may qualify - contact us if you have questions.
